Shot dead in Moscow

Anastasiya Baburova (Novaya Gazeta)Another sad story to digest.  This time, once again, an aspiring journalist was shot dead along with a human rights lawyer outside a metro in Moscow.  Murdered in broad day light. Only 25 years old, Anastasiya Baburova, kept a blog about life in Russia, about her passion for rollerblading and her frustration with Putin’s  government.   You can read some of her blog entries at openDemocracy Russia here. Stanislav Markelov, 34, was walking with her.  Two hours earlier he had made a speech at the Independent Press Center.  He had criticized the early release Thursday of former Russian Colonel Yuri Budanov – a man convicted a torturing, raping, and murdering a Chechen girl is free.
