Fresh Fighting in N.W.F.P

Fresh clashes have erupted in N.W.F.P and 23 Taliban fighters were killed, and the administration had to impose curfew to control the situation. The situation in N.W.F.P has been deteriorating for years now and despite the very best efforts by the army, the terrorists are getting stronger and more confident. They are also increasing their reach and controlling more areas.

What is confusing and frustrating about this problem is that the civilian population is under tremendous population to pick sides and the evidence suggests that the civilians have no option, but to be on the side of vicious nihilists. The only reason the terrorists are gaining strength is that the army goes back and the civilians have to face the militants without the protection of the uniform.

Washington has pumped a lot of money to eradicate the threat of terrorism but so far, there no is sign of success, not at least in Pakistan. Despite multiple arrests from Pakistan, the supply of recruits doesn't diminish. This is a worrisome trend. This has to be tackled. Once the political chaos is settled in the country (if it is settled), we can hope that the focus on defeating the terrorists would increase!
