So what did you think of the Presidential Town Hall debate? I was pleased that there was a good bit of time devoted to foreign policy questions. I’d like to repeat my experiment with the debate transcript, again using the comments to break out the answers from each candidate. Reviewing the issues like this shows that the moderator and participants asked very specific questions and for the most part the candidates each answered the foreign policy questions with detailed answers.
According to my review of the transcript, the candidates replied to the following foreign policy questions:
1. How will the recent economic stress affect our nation's ability to act as a peacemaker in the world?
2. What is your doctrine for the use of combat forces in humanitarian crises lacking national security interests?
3. Respect Pakistani sovereignty to pursue al Qaeda?
4. How to reorganize Afghanistan strategy?
5. How to pressure Russia for humanitarian help, avoid another Cold War?
6. Is Russia under Vladimir Putin is an evil empire?
7. How should the U.S. respond to an Iranian attack on Israel?
