Iranian Child Executions Continue

Yesterday I wrote on Shari’a law and the stoning death of a 13 year-old rape victim, during the same week this atrocity was carried out in Somalia, reports of anouther underaged execution have been reported in Iran.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) stated than an Afghan national, convicted of murder when he was only 17 years old, was executed last week. The central judiciary has not confirmed the news from Isfahan. It would be the seventh such execution in 2008.

Last month Iran made statements aluding to the fact that it would end the practive of child executions last month, however but later said victims’ families had the final say. HRW said the Afghan man was hanged in Isfahan province on Oct. 30. (BBC)
