Hunger strike in Saudi

Human rights activists in Saudi just completed a two-day hunger strike protesting the detention of hundreds of prisoners in the Kingdom without charges, especially eleven human rights activists, among them a former judge and former university professors. The hunger strikers abstained from food and drink in their homes to avoid breaking the Saudi law against unauthorized public demonstrations, so the media – notably blogs and Facebook – played a principle role in publicizing their protest.
