With Christmas almost here, I wanted to share a list of my favorite charities that are doing amazing work in Mexico.  If you have not finished your Christmas shopping or are looking for a way to give, please read on.

Heifer International

provides livestock for families in rural villages.  For example, you can choose to purchase a cow which provides milk for a family that can be a valuable nutritional source or sold at a market.  Once the cow gives birth, its offspring are donated to the community, and the cycle continues.

World Vision

a Christian charity that sponsors individual children , providing them with adequate food, clothing, shelter, and education.  Also involved in long-term development work and advocacy.

Compassion International – like World Vision, a Christian charity that sponsors individual children , providing them with adequate food, clothing, shelter, and education.

Catholic Relief Services – focuses on long-term development work, solutions to solve structural poverty, provides emergency relief, microfinance, and more

Kiva.org – featured on CNN and by the Clinton Global Initiative, Kiva is a microfinance NGO that allows users to choose individual or group loan recipients online.  By providing subsidized credit, they allow people in the informal sector to expand their businesses and provide for their family.
