May Chidiac resigned from her position with LBC TV. You can read about the reasons she resigned here. Whether you like her or not, she paid a high price for speaking against the Syrians and their allies in Lebanon.

Israel placed a special unit at the border with Lebanon. Just in case Hizballah decides to do something to avenge the death of Imad Muhnyeh. Ehud Barak, Israeli Defense Minister, warned Hezbollah of the “painful consequences.”

Meanwhile the politicians continue the bickering. The wiretapping issue has the ingredients to become a huge scandal. Its also a dangerous one. Those who have the means to listen and to follow your tracks around the country, can easily plot an assassination. Who is the friend and who is the enemy? Not always easy to know.

Hazem Saghiyeh has an interesting op-ed in NOW Lebanon.

As for outright mistakes, the most important one probably was raising the issue of the Iranian diplomats who were kidnapped in 1982. Hezbollah's secretary general did not realize that, by opening this file, he has opened the history of his own party. There are many demons lurking in the history of the civil war, and when provoked, they spring forth together. Nevertheless, Hezbollah has failed to realize that unanimous mandatory solidarity with the Resistance, which was enforced by the Syrians, is no more. Back then, it was possible to pretend that Hezbollah was wholly unconnected and did not play any part in the violations committed by everyone. Confusion should not be allowed to lead to such levels of forgetfulness, as doing so would be another big mistake.
