In this weekend Lebanon remembers two major events: the tragic death of Hariri, and those who were with him, and the Cedars Revolution. It is a time for reflection as well as action. The Revolution entered a comatose state, but it is not yet dead.
As preparations for the fourth commemoration of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and the deaths of Minister Bassel Fuleihan and 22 others gain momentum, the March 14 alliance issued an open call for all Lebanese, and the alliance’s supporters in particular, to show massive participation in the Martyrs’ Square event on Saturday.
The prominent An-Nahar daily on Thursday reported four March 14 leaders were scheduled to address the crowd, for which 100,000 chairs have been laid out: Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri, Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt, Kataeb leader and former President Amine Gemayel, and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.
