Body demands Musharraf's trial, ouster from Army House

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association (PESA) on Saturday demanded trial of General retired Pervez Musharraf for subverting the Constitution and said the former dictator should be ousted from the Army House.   

In the meeting of the association, the ex-servicemen hailed the restoration of the unlawfully removed judges and praised the legal fraternity for successfully leading its two-year-long struggle.

The meeting headed by Admiral retired Fasih Bukhari was attended by vice admiral retired Tasnim Haider, air vice marshal retired  Sadruddin, Lt. Gen retired Naeem Akbar, Maj Gen retired Aslam Zuberi, Maj Gen retired Hidayatullah Niazi, Brig retired Khadim Hussain, Brig retired Masud ul Hassan, Brig retired Salam and Captain doctor retired Babur Zahiruddin and several other members of PESA.

A delegation of lawyers, including Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) president Malik Shahzad Gehba, President District Bar Association (DBA) Taufeeq Asif, former LHCBA president Sardar Asmatullah, Siddiq Awan and former ambassador Akram Zaki were also present in the meeting.

The association decided to constitute a special committee to formulate the proposals for the trial of Pervaz Musharraf for violation of the Constitution and other crimes committed by him.

They PESA expressed surprise over the occupation of the Army House by Pervaz Musharraf and his enjoying the protocol and protection of the Pakistan Army.

The ex-armymen said they would deliberate on how to bring the former dictator to book and dispossess him of the army house in t he next meeting on March 28.
