Eid Mubarak. Eid-ul Adha was celebrated with quiet contemplation in New York yesterday. Today Bangladesh and much of the Muslim world celebrates the faith of the patriarch Abraham.
Unfortunately as millions of Bangladeshi’s rushed to make their way back home for Eid celebration, tragedy has struck again. News reports show that more than 32 people have died when a ferry sank in Bhola, a coastal town more than 180 south of Dhaka. The ferry is reported to have been carrying at least 1500 people, more than 3 times the registered limit on passenger capacity.
Update: New reports show that at least 51 bodies have been recovered. I am certain the final count has yet to be tallied.
