American Trade Policies and Priorities in the Asia-Pacific

Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Demetrios Marantis gave an insightful speech last week at the Center for Strategic and International Studies that addresses the Obama administration’s trade priorities in the Asia-Pacific and outlines the complex challenges (regional architecture, rising China, and others) that will undoubtedly temper the US trade policy stance for years to come.

This video is particularly interesting for those curious as to how the Obama administration’s trade policies abroad will affect jobs and the economy at home. The Asia Pacific is home to some of the world’s fastest growing and most dynamic economies and as such it will profoundly influence the future trajectory of America’s growth and stability – a point that Marantis drives home.
