The 50th anniversary celebration of the Peace Corps will be marked with activities throughout 2011, but the organization has chosen food security as a signature issue around which many local anniversary activities should be organized.
The National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) is helping members of the Peace Corps community to organize Global House Parties on March 1st. In cities across the U.S., attendees of these parties will share their Peace Corps experiences. Additionally, Oxfam America has helped NPCA organize the Global House Parties by developing materials that can make each soiree a discussion forum for understanding and improving food security.
The Global House Parties for the Peace Corps community will have a similar goal to Oxfam America’s Hunger Banquet event, scheduled for March 8th.
