EU & Russia's frosty relations.

The FPA recently hosted a lecture on “Russia Today From a European Perspective” given by Giuliano Amato, one of the authors of the Lisbon Treaty.

Russia and Europe have necessarily become closer in recent years – one reason is the simple fact that the EU now borders quite extensively with its neighbour. However, like a couple in a loveless marriage, their act has been less than convincing. Georgia and the “great freeze” in January, when Russia effectively cut off supplies to large parts of Central Europe, have meant that Russia is now being viewed with more suspicion, even by its traditional allies in the EU. In the below lecture Mr. Amato explores EU-Russia relations in at a time when the Partnership & co-operation Agreement which governs relations is being renegoiatioed.
