The Nordic African Studies community has always produced some of the most thoughtful, insightful and important work on Africa. Foremost amongst these organizations is the Nordiska Afrikainstitutet (The Nordic African Institute), which is based in Uppsala, Sweden. The Institute pulls together serious research and scholarship, policy discussion, and other work. The Institute produces a high volume of important publications, the most recent of which can be accessed here. Among the recent titles are works on the role of China in Africa, governance issues in Southern Africa, political opposition across the continent, and many others which are available for purchase but also for free download.
