FPA Blogging: Golden friends & disgusting sandwiches

Dear Readers,

A Solid Gold CommunityIt's only three months, and I promise never to do this again: this somewhat self-indulgent summation.  But after over 100 posts and 150 comments, who knew the great people I would meet who talk and write about Central Asia?  I only know you by your writing, your comments and letters, the quality of your analysis and persistence in bringing Central Asian affairs into mainstream discourse.  But if I met you in person, I would definitely buy you a cup of coffee just to hear you talk.  It would be a token act compared to the generous help you have given me in getting started.  And not only that, it would be such a pleasure to discuss international relations with a person whose eyes do not glaze over when you get to the details.

It just keeps comin'And in ten or so weeks, who knew I would confront over 1,100 Special Promotions At Millionbillionz?  The latter has taught me a bunch I didn't care to know about the legal pharmaceutical, automotive, and tourist industry.  It makes a nice metaphor for many of the negative externalities about globalization: just keeps creeping in to ruin one's theme and one's thought progression.  It has also given me a large hint on the pervasiveness of global human trafficking–as the kind of flitting shell to the more insidious crimes that underlie it, and are even harder to track.

Last of all, I want to thank Robert and Mac for incredible support and increasingly comprehensive capabilities.  One of those is supposed to be new video capabilities.  As soon as I figure it out, we will have T.V. at FPA Central Asia.  In the meantime, I have to get back to work. . . it's glitches like this that remind me no one makes a good effort by themselves.

New blogs in blogroll:
Due to recommendations by Afghanistanica, I am adding My State Failure blog, which covers Afghanistan as well as other countries at risk.

Non Pon is a blog with incisive commentary on Central Asia.  Check them out!
