The Vice-Presidential Debate

VP Debate

Happy VP Debate Day! I’m looking forward to the debate, eager to find out more about Joe Biden and Sarah Palin's views of the U.S. role in the world. I don't really get too much into the actual mechanics of the debate, what they should or should not do to win, but I did notice that The Washington Post asked political analysts, pollsters and others what Biden and Palin need to do tonight. Their advice makes for some interesting reading.

Here are some debate resources to help you prepare for this debate:

  • PBS Election Coverage: Vote 2008
This is the primary website for PBS's election coverage, it features links to news videos as well as background on the candidates and their positions, as well as analysis. Gwen Ifill of PBS NewsHour will moderate the debate at WUSTL.
  • Vice-Presidential Debate 2008
This is the official website of tonight's debate featuring links to news, faculty and student perspectives, photos, and video footage.
  • Poynter – Presidential Debate History
This site offers resources and books about the history of presidential debates, including links to past debates.

If you were moderating the debate, what questions about the U.S. role in the world would you ask the candidates?
