A Letter From School Children in Pakistan to Sri Lanka

The Students From Modernage Public School & College Abbottabad, Pakistan wrote a letter to Sri Lanka After The Horrific Attack On Sri Lankan Team In Pakistan.

The attack on Sri Lankan Cricket team in Lahore on March 3rd, 2009 has affected almost every peace-loving individual and children are no exception. Therefore, to demonstrate their complete support and appreciation for the Sri Lankan Cricket team and their heroic sportsmanship, the students of Modernage Public School & College Abbottabad wrote a letter expressing their unhappiness over the horrible incident in Lahore. The entire student body of the institution has singed this letter.

In this letter, the students expressed their gratitude and admiration for Sri Lankan heroes who chose to come to Pakistan in the most difficult time of its history. The letter further states that a dozen fine sportsmen displayed exemplary courage & spirit of sacrifice to fight the evil that is tarnishing our world. In the same letter the children expressed their firm commitment to help the nation to fight against the terrorism. The letter closes by a very emotional phrase “ with love from Pakistan”.

This letter accurately portrays the feelings of Pakistan and especially the feelings of youth. A delegation of students will deliver the letter to the people of Sri Lanka through the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Islamabad.

He is also fascinated by the relationship between Pakistan, the country of his birth, and the United States of America, his adopted homeland. Therefore, he makes every effort to read major newspapers in Pakistan and what is being said about Washington, while staying fully alert to the analysis and the news being reported in the American press about Pakistan. After finishing graduate school, he started using his free time to write to various papers in Pakistan in an effort to clarify whatever misconceptions he noticed in the press, especially about the United States. This pastime became a passion after his letters were published in Vanity Fair and The New Yorker and his writing became more frequent and longer. Now, he is here, writing a blog about Pakistan managed by Foreign Policy Association.
