Hariri to Target Armed Groups

Future Movement leader Saad Hariri declared his platform of disarmament of all resistance groups in Lebanon.

At the party’s rally Sunday night, Hairi declared, “The arms of the Lebanese state should triumph over all other arms. The dialogue table should tackle the issue of the resistance’s arms while discussing means by which Israeli offensives against Lebanon can be countered.”

The statements were most likely in reference to Hizballah, the only official armed resistence group in the Lebanon. Hizballah played a major part in expelling Israel from Lebanon in 2000, and defeated Israel again in July 2006. Many view the Lebanese Army as incapable of fending off an attack from Israel.
