With a dismal track record and all the debris that gets washed up and stuck in Washington’s wretched gut, Republicans are now blackmailing Obama into not disclosing Bush’s darkest secrets on his torture policy.
Obama wants to nominate Dawn Johnsen as chief of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice and Yale Law School Dean Harold Koh as State Department.
But the Republicans are having a hissy fit over Obama’s desire to expose Bush’s injustices and will force him to drop the nominations. In arms and ready to fight to the teeth, Republicans are doing everything they can to not get those crucial documents exposed.
The memos on torture are already in the open. But the approval of certain torture techniques that Obama wants released can be used as crucial evidence in crimes against humanity.
And those who signed them will have to face justice. Not something the Republicans, who condoned torture, want to have on their silver lined dinner plates. In the chute, down the gullet, and stuck in the inflammatory disorder of the DC bowels.
Dick Cheney and co. are still lurking in the shadows of that shameful administration, stretching its long arms into the corridors of Washington’s elite. Shame on them.
