Vacation Quick Hits

My apologies for the light posting. I am taking a little vacation with Mrs. Africa Blog for our second anniversary. I will be back in full force next week, and after that will be blogging daily from South Africa.

I would suggest looking at some of the recent posts by Texas in Africa, who has been busy lately with a lot of stories I would otherwise be addressing were I spending more time at the computer. Also note that South Africans recently were swindled in a massive ponzi scheme, that three more SABC board members have resigned, and in a warmup to the FIFA World Cup next year, South Africa is hosting the Confederations Cup.

Meanwhile, Zapiro sees the spectre of the economy looming largest among the many challenges Team Zuma faces in the coming days, weeks, and months:

Derek Catsam is a Professor of history and Kathlyn Cosper Dunagan Professor in the Humanities at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He is also Senior Research Associate at Rhodes University. Derek writes about race and politics in the United States and Africa, sports, and terrorism. He is currently working on books on bus boycotts in the United States and South Africa in the 1940s and 1950s and on the 1981 South African Springbok rugby team's tour to the US.
