At the G8 summit in L’Aquila, Italy earlier this month, leaders came together to tell the world about all the great things they have in store for us. The money, the figures, and the promises. $20 billion will go to help feed the starving around the world.
We’ve heard that one before at Gleneagles all those years ago. Good thing must of us have short memories. But I’ve already posted an entry about this so I’ll leave it be.
But just recently, another sum of $20 billionhas made headlines. This money won’t go to help the starving or even aid all those individuals who were robbed of their retirements, of their pensions, of their savings by the wizardry of some financial “gurus” on Wall Street.
No, instead this $20 billion of their money will end up as BONUSES for the top echelon and hoi-polloi of the one and only Goldman Sachs.
As amazing as it sounds, the indecency and immorality of the bonuses is proof that the handful of people who run these banks live in a world that knows no bounds.
It’s as if the global financial crisis had never occured. Why should those responsible for sending another 150 million people into hunger, for destroying the pensions and retirements of many hard working individuals, who then get bailed out by their taxes – why should they be rewarded $20 billion?
There is no decency at Goldman Sachs. None, whatsoever.
