Springboks 2009 Tri-Nations Champions!

After a 32-29 victory over the All Blacks the Springboks stand supreme as 2009 Tri-Nations champions.

Today’s victory marked the first time since 1949 that the Boks had beaten the mighty All Blacks three times in a season. Between decisively winning the Tri-Nations, the premier non-World Cup international competition and their victory over the British and Irish Lions earlier this year South Africa is unquestionably the numer one team in world rugby.

Derek Catsam is a Professor of history and Kathlyn Cosper Dunagan Professor in the Humanities at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He has lived, worked, and travelled extensively throughout southern Africa. He writes about politics, sports, travel, pop culture, and just about anything else that comes to mind.
