State of the Planet 2010

I was disappointed to not be able to make this important conference this past Thursday.  (Too many other balls up in the air.)  I went two years ago and found it a most satisfying experience.

Here is Earth Institute Director Jeffrey Sachs introducing the event, along with video of the whole conference.  Panelists took part from all over the world, not just New York, but also Beijing, New Delhi, Monaco, Nairobi and London, with keynotes from Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa and Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General.

The Earth Institute is a perpetually ground-breaking center for research, policy analysis, education and debate on not only the climate crisis, but key development issues from tropical agriculture to urbanization to global health.  The Earth Institute was joined by partners The Economist and Ericsson, the telecommunications giant, in staging this impressive event.
