Kenya's Thriving Newspapers

Unlike in the United States, where newspapers seem to be a dying industry, in Kenya print media appears to be thriving. I am no luddite, and I certainly embrace technology and what it can do for us. But one of my great pleasures in life is being able to read a good newspaper. this is even more important to me when I am outside of the United States and there are those times when i just want to sit down at a cafe or pub and read the sections of the paper and while away some time. The first thing I do when I land in Johannesburg or London is to pick up several papers for the train or whatever the next stage of my journey will be. I am pleased, then, to know that whatever the trends in my backyard, in Kenya there is a recognition of the important of this age-old medium.
