Share Our Strength has enlisted Academy Award winning actor and child hunger activist Jeff Bridges to promote its “No Kid Hungry” campaign. The initiative aims to end child hunger in the United States by 2015 by building a community of supporters who commit to participating in programs and initiatives organized by Share Our Strength.
Share our Strength describes the intended impact of the program as,
“…giving more kids a healthy start by supporting school breakfast programs; ensuring kids have food at home by helping more eligible families enroll in SNAP; keeping kids fed outside of school by ensuring access to afterschool and summer programs that provide snacks or meals; and teaching families how to prepare healthy, affordable meals.”
Participants can join the campaign by taking the “No Kid Hungry” Pledge which entitles them to information on activities that will help meet the campaign’s goal.
Jeff Bridges has taken on the global fight against hunger since starting his own organization, the End Hunger Network in 1983.
