Giving Back to Children in Need this Holiday Season

Giving Back to Children in Need this Holiday SeasonThis year, for most of us, our wallets are not as fat as they once were. Charitable giving may seem like a daunting task or just plain impossible, as you search your pockets and come up empty handed. For those of you who find a few pennies to spare, and want to ensure that you use them wisely- those most in need will benefit from your donation.  No matter how much or how little you have to spend this year, remember giving isn’t always about spending. Despite how cliche it sounds, it really is the thought that counts; when you are supporting a worthy cause and those in need it truly does all add up.

So where do you begin to find the right place to give this holiday season? First find your cause or causes: maybe it is to help AIDS orphans in Africa, homeless children in the United States, children displaced by the hurricane in Haiti, survivors of human trafficking. Sadly the list of those in need goes on and on. So take some time and find the cause that makes you feel like you are making an impact. Don’t forget many of these causes will not only benefit from your donations or in-kind gifts, but your time to see if there are any volunteer opportunities will really make this the season of giving.

To get you started I wanted to bring you back to a few posts from last year, which contain a number of great organizations and causes to which you can donate either time or money, including many programs that really make a few pennies count.  All of these lists have ideas on how help those who need it most and will surely get you started off on the right foot this holiday season.  No matter how much or how little you have to spend this year, remember giving isn’t always about spending.
